Reebok posts videos to their YouTube page quite frequently. They upload a new video
twice a week. Asics on the other hand, posts videos to the site a lot less
often than Reebok. Their posting dates vary from 4 days to 2 weeks, unlike
Reebok, there doesn’t seem to be a consistent posting schedule.
Asics posts
instructional videos that focus on fitness and nutrition. The brand is never
directly mentioned, instead the hosts in the videos are seen wearing Asics
athletic gear while they workout. The videos are simple, short and
straight-to-the-point. Reebok is a
global brand; therefore, their videos contain everything from celebrity
endorsements, motivational speeches, footwear and apparel collections to
sponsored events. Their videos are glossy, highly-quality produced pieces with
an emphasis on storytelling.
The
description area under Reebok’s videos are always concisely written, clear and
easy to understand. There are no links or hashtags included in this area. Asics
has a similar approach; however, they implement hashtags in their description
area to help boost engagement. Examples of hashtags used are #Fitter15, #Wantitmore and #Asics.
Reeboks’
most recent successful video has 25,264 views and stars American football
player JJ Watt. The video features the football player driving around Houston,
Texas and working out in a gym while he’s narration is heard explaining how he
pushes himself to be the very best. The video’s tagline is “Hunt for Greatness.” This video’s popularity is obviously due to
the fact that Reebok employed a beloved famous athlete to star in their ad. In
addition, the message “to push
yourself,” helps inspires and motivates viewers.
Asics most
recent popular video is an instructional video about Tabata Intervals. A high
intensity workout drill of 20 seconds on, followed by 10 seconds off. The video
generated 450 views. I believe this video is successful because of the recent
rise in popularity of high-intensity interval training. This workout style
provides the same benefits of endurance exercises but in a shorter period.
very informative and appealing!
