Introduction

SEO is extremely important to marketers in the running shoes industry as most aspects of retail are switching over to online shopping. When it comes to running shoes, the market is very competitive and it helps the companies who take advantage SEO and effectively put it to use. They can achieve this by using keywords like “lightweight running shoes,” and other words related to their specific brand throughout their sites. The objective of this SEO Analysis is to see who has the best shoe site in terms of SEO between Reebok and Asics.

Google Trends Insights:

The biggest thing you see when you look at the graph is that Reebok is being searched way more than running shoes and Asics, that just shows how popular Reebok is in the industry of running shoes. Also around the last few months the search for running shoes has gone up and is catching up to Reebok, which is also good for the company. Asics are below the search term of “running shoes” but one thing that is almost consistent through out is the trends each curve follows, all of them mostly dip and go up with each other.

Latent Semantic Indexing Keywords:

The 3 keywords found on LSI for reebok are: be more human, gym is everywhere, and united by fitness. The 3 keywords found on LSI for Asics are: cushioning for distance, workout essentials for every set, dynamic fit gear.

Summary:

Rebook’s strengths are its use of a load time of less than 1 second and having a strong presence of call to action. Asics strengths are its use of using unique keywords on their website and having a visually appealing website. When searching for “athletic workout apparel” it took a bit of digging but was able to find both the brands. There are many different keywords used by both brands that are brand specific and it was easier to find the brands using those.  It was interesting seeing the different trends and analyzing the web pages using the different tools. When searching the content using the keywords “be more human”, reebok ranked 8th on SERP. When searching for keywords “dynamic fit gear”, Asics ranked 1st SERP. Both the websites are visually appealing and don’t necessarily maximize their SEO. They are different because Reebok uses some heading structure but Asics uses none, the alt text of reebok was also better than Asics.

Conclusion:

Both the brands don’t really do a good job to maximize their SEO. The load time for Asics is extremely high, whereas Reebok’s is very low. Both the brands don’t use any meta keywords or strong tags. Even though Asics shows up first on SERP using a very unique keyword which doesn’t have any volume searches, in my opinion Reebok is the winner of this SEO Audit.
